On April 11, 2025, the Barcelona Beer Challenge celebrated its tenth edition within the framework of the Barcelona Beer Festival, coinciding with the first day of InnBrew, the Brewers Convention. In a gala full of energy and brewing passion, 159 medals were awarded in 53 categories, with the participation of 984 beers from 170 breweries coming from 16 countries.
The ceremony, once again presented by Judit Càrtex and Mikel Rius, took place on a renewed, more open and comfortable stage, which allowed for a better experience for an expectant audience.
The awards were divided into blocks that culminated with the presentation of the big awards of the night: the Brewing Hope for a Better Future Award, the Steve Huxley Award, the Molina for Brewers Innovation Award, and the most outstanding recognitions: Newcomer Brewery of the Year and Brewery of the Year.
One of this year’s novelties has been the creation of the Brewing Hope for a Better Future Award, thanks to the support of Molina for Brewers. This award recognizes initiatives with a positive impact and a focus on sustainability. The award went to Cerveza Dougall’s, for its commitment to a more responsible and sustainable future.
The Steve Huxley Award, the most emotional tribute of the night to a whole brewing career, was awarded to Alberto Benavides, from the magazine BAR&BEER. As tradition dictates, the award was presented by former winners of this recognition.
In the field of innovation, the Molina for Brewers Innovation Award went to La Cervesera Artesana, for their disruptive approach in the brewing process with their multi-awarded beer Beer Nostrum.
The Rokie Brewery of the Year Award went to La Spontanerie, in recognition of their emerging talent and promising path within the brewing scene.
And finally, the most awaited moment: 7 VIDAS is proclaimed BREWERY OF THE YEAR 2025, becoming the big winner of the competition. Congratulations!
